We got demons in the house

But they're pretty darn cute. One Way rescued a mama kitty and her three out of five kittens. Mama is getting spayed at the time of this post, and we only have three kittens with two at large.

These cats make tigers look tame. They are pretty darn feral. But, we aim to tame 'em and then send them on their way to a new home to shred.

Another attempt at making clothes

I think I did better this time. The directions still baffled me on the skirt, but I didn't let that stop me. I made up my own design for the shirt (I had some scraps left over and didn't have a shirt to match the skirt)

Fishing bonanza

One Way's dad and stepmom came up for the weekend and we ended up catching a whole lot of fish (and a whole lot of fun).

Gary caught the biggest fish of the lot.

Here we all are in front of the house.

Ana gets X-rays

Ana got X-rays this week. She's had hip problems since she was a puppy, but it is starting to get worse. So we got the X-rays and now she is on some RX pills. The problems with her hips appear to be just badly formed hips.

And, because I love X-rays, I figured I'd post them here:

OMG I found a dog!

For the last several days, I have been finding tuffs of hair all over the house. Today, upon further investigation, I found this:

Look closely ...

OMG right? It's a dog! Funny, I remember having a black and white dog (and not a ball of fluff) exactly like this one last summer.

Like Michelangelo, I carefully sculpted a dog out of the fluff:

She's cute ... I think I'll keep her and name her Kit.

(Please note the cat I found a month or so ago in the window. She too was born out of a ball of fluff)

Street Family's Self Sufficient Recipe

We've done it! We've finally done it! We have made an entire meal out of our very own resources!

One Way brought home a fish last night and I used the garden to make a meal.

Here's the recipe:

Flounder fillets
Red, new potatoes
Red onions (with some onion tops)
Dill
Cilantro
Olive oil
Lemon juice

Fry up the thinly sliced potatoes and onion (salt and pepper to taste), then place fish on top the onions and potatoes in the skillet. Add herbs and onion tops. Put in a splash of lemon juice. Cover and simmer for about 8 minutes or until the fish is moist yet flaky.

The only ingredients that weren't from the garden were lemon juice (I plan on planting a lemon tree now), salt, pepper and a tablespoon on olive oil.

One more step of getting off the grid!
